Any idiot can do what I do to make $ online. It's not rocket surgery, it's cake. Also, I like pie.

Traffic Exchange Live has been a riot the last couple of days and tonight I’m kind of reporting on it as a two-fer because there weren’t that many notes today (there was a LOT of good discussion today, I just didn’t take many notes and there weren’t very many different topics, just mainly some long discussions about a few issues). I also got some excellent screenshots today, plus we had a surprise guest host as well, so I wanted to share all those tonight too.

A lot of stuff, so let’s get down to it!

Traffic Tuesday on Traffic Exchange Live:

  • On Tuesday’s edition of TE Live, Jon Olson was a few minutes late getting there. Tim Linden entertained himself cracking jokes about Jon being late, even though it was only like a minute or two past time.
  • Jon was broadcasting live from Edmonton Tuesday again.
  • And was dark.
  • Very dark.
  • I didn’t get a screenshot but since he had his back to the window, you couldn’t see him except in silhouette mostly.
  • Therefore Jon was The Shadow of TE Live.
  • Or The Dark Knight of TE Live, if you prefer.
  • After Jon shed some light on himself (heh), we learned that they poured Jon’s driveway that morning.
  • We also learned there was also a big pile of dirt outside Jon’s new house in Edmonton. The yard’s not coming for a few more months.
  • Jon was having cooked chicken with HENry, who was cooking.
  • Discussion of soccer and why Portugal and Spain hate each other so much.
  • Jon puttered around the kitchen opening this cabinet and that cabinet. There is nothing in those cabinets, they’re practically empty.
  • Discussion of haters hating on Sweeva. We also read and discussed a safelist mail that’s going around dissing Sweeva.
  • Per Winter Perkins (quoting Cat Williams): “If you have 13 haters, your goal should be to get to 15 by the end of the month.”
  • None of us were born with silver spoons in our mouths, especially not Jon. Charles Smith said he was born with a plastic Dixie spoon in his. I said I was born with no spoons, just forks. Eric Goettman said we were born with sporks.
  • Sweeva was having some technical issues and Jon & Tim argued (which is always hilarious, I’m sorry, but it is!!! They are!!!).
  • Soon after that Tuesday’s edition of TE Live was abruptly shut off (not because of the Sweeva issues or the arguing). Onto Wednesday…

Wacky Wednesday on Traffic Exchange Live:

  • Jon and Tim were in the TE Live house as usual, though Tim was mostly working on stuff again much of the hour.
  • Jon reported that Squidoo had shut Soren Jordansen‘s Squidoo lens about traffic exchanges down, and after checking with Soren, read us the letter on the air that Soren got from them about it. Apparently Squidoo has become anti-traffic exchange somewhat, which is disturbing. We had a long discussion about that and I actually had not been aware that Squidoo is Seth Godin’s (which to me makes the whole thing even more ridiculous, I mean, yeah, Soren’s a TE guy but he’s also one of the planet’s top online marketers).
  • Long, long discussion about all the negativity and problems surrounding TE Land as opposed to, you know, the rest of online marketing in general – especially how much not-great stuff is currently rotating in most TEs all over. Jon: “Let’s face it, traffic exchanges are full of crap right now.”
  • The possibility of TE Land being kinda like a “sinking ship” these days was another term proposed about the state of TE Land in general by Jerry Iannucci. No one really disagreed.
  • We also had some more discussion about the effects cash surfing is having on the TE industry as a whole.
  • Then we had a nice surprise guest host join us – the always pleasant and wonderful Mr. James Holmes of the Internet Business Blueprint at

  • James shared a lot of good input and insight on the discussion we were all having about the negativity in TE Land in general and some other great stuff (always great coming from James), and after we all talked about it all at length a little more, the mood changed a little bit and some of us talked about how those of us who still support what we know traffic exchanges can do probably need to work a little harder at trying to keep a more positive outlook on things TE-wise and keeping on trying to help teach people the right way to do things to get results (a la Affiliate Funnel, TE Live, etc.).
  • We also found out James has a daughter who’s in college. I am still suspicious that he can’t possibly be old enough to have a daughter in college looking so young himself! :-)
  • James’ daughter was asking him about TE Live when she was there recently, and we had some discussion about the kids of TE Live. Tim and Jon were talking about going to get coffee and we all wondered why, when they both have kids there (as Jon’s son is visiting this week), they haven’t trained any of those kids to bring them their coffee.
  • Tim went to get coffee with his headset on, so we could still hear him but couldn’t see him. Then we heard his coffee maker.
  • Then when Tim got back, Jon went to get his coffee.
  • James didn’t go get any coffee.
  • I really don’t know what Jon’s doing here:

  • Jon told us that the night before, when he and his son were driving back to Saskatoon from Edmonton, there was a storm so bad they were literally dodging lightning bolts on the road. The Foot had gone out with the girls, and he had already gotten home and gone to bed when she got home, but she made him get up because she said he had to look at something. Their entire neighborhood, yards, everything was flooded with around two feet of water – including the rental car that was sitting in Jon’s driveway, which Jon had not purchased full insurance coverage this time for and was now flooded. Oops.
  • Tim talked about how everyone in Rhode Island’s basement was flooded during the floods up there in May except his, which was dry and fine. Then after the flood waters receded, he heard running water one bright, sunny day and couldn’t figure out where it was coming from. He then discovered the faucet on the hose outside the house had broken – and water from the hose was rushing into his basement and had flooded it a bit.
  • Jon’s dog Dakota made an appearance. She was behind him having a fine time chewing on a bone, and we mostly just saw her butt.
  • Winter Perkins has a new blog, which we all checked out.
  • A little after 4pm, Tim and James logged off but Jon stuck around, and we were soon joined by the littlest Olson, who provided much entertainment for the next hour or so:

  • Now that the young Olson has gotten his hair cut like he has, they are starting to look kind of like twins almost:

  • “Personal branding at its best,” as Jon said – and it also would appear that HENry might have some competition in the running for the position of I Love Hits mascot:

  • And I had a phone call and had to split for the rest of the day, and when I returned everyone had logged off, so thus ended TE Live for the day.
  • GIVEAWAYS: No giveaways on Tuesday or Wednesday.
  • I CALL YOU OUT ABOVE, YOU GET LINKAGE: Winter Perkins, Charles Smith, TopHits4U (Eric Goettman), Dragon Surf (Soren Jordansen), Safelist Marketing Tactics (Jerry Iannucci), James Holmes
  • ALSO ON THE SCENE (I may have missed someone on Wednesday’s list, sorry about that if so): Diane Merriam, Jared, Paul Brown, Charles Smith, Jay Hines, Pamela, Eric Goettman, Brenda Broyles, Ram Kumar, Carl Bailey, Neil A. Grippa, Ian Bakewell, Kevin Bailey, Stephen Whittle
  • QUOTE OF THE DAY (from Tuesday): “I need to start attacking you guys and see if I start getting better results.” – Jerry Iannucci

So, Lynn M. Is Not So Hot Today: Hey, I just mean it’s not quite as hot down here today/tonight!!! I’ll take a 91 degree high over 102.9 any day. And that’s all I’m gonna say about that…

Lynn M.’s Traffic Tidbit of the Day: Not going to name names, but when I was trying to catch up some after being mostly away from TEs for the past month or so, I found several more traffic exchanges with downline builder additions that I had no idea had been added. Let your people know, TE owners, is all I’m saying!!! And thanks SO much to the ones that DO let folks know on a regular basis!

Surf’s Up Site of the Day: Traffic-Splash

Why: Because I’m posting this so late & their server doesn’t reset for the day until 3am EST, and Splash is having a double everything day – double bonus credits, double Surf Rewards, and double Super Surf too!

Hey, Check This Out: I mentioned above that Winter Perkins of Seamless Web Solutions has a new blog, and you should check it out! Winter said she just decided she wanted to do a little something with her own personal space – and you know she’ll have some good marketing and design tips and other info too, knowing her – so she’s put up a spiffy new blog that you should check out, read, bookmark, and link – it lives right here.

OK, that’s it for today… I have some cool news tomorrow that you won’t want to miss, so stay tuned – same TE Live gossip girl time, same TE Live gossip girl channel! Adios!

We’ve been having a lot of fun at Traffic Exchange Live lately with a lot of funny and lively discussions, but I have still been having a little trouble keeping up with documenting the general flow of things ‘cos, to be honest, this unusual heat wave we are having down here in the Mid-South for June has about knocked me for a loop.

Yesterday during TE Live, the National Weather Service was registering temp of 102.9F outside here, and I was literally all the way back in my chair typing (very slowly) with my arms stretched out in front of me like Frankenstein. So trying to take “real” notes has really been next to impossible, and I apologize for that. Most days during this heat wave (which has now been going on about three weeks) I have been barely functional and trying to get as much done in the mornings while it’s still bearable, and a lot of days lately after TE Live’s gone off the air, I just go to sleep for a while until dark to get some respite from the heat.

That all said, TE Live has been a real hoot lately and I’ve been cracking up on a regular basis. Here’s a few tidbits and some not quite complete lists for yesterday…

Manic Monday on Traffic Exchange Live:

  • Jon Olson was broadcasting from his part-time homestead in Edmonton yesterday. Tim Linden was in Rhode Island as usual. And we haven’t seen John Guanzon in a while, dunno what he’s up to, probably baby stuff.
  • We saw a flash of HENry the Hitman walking up the stairs, as apparently he was there in Edmonton with Jon yesterday. But he wasn’t in his boxing gear or anything.
  • We talked about how adorable Tim’s daughter was in her dance recital practice (the recital was last night). He definitely has reason to be one proud daddy! I hope I’m still around when his two girls are teenagers because I think it’s going to be hilarious to witness him dealing with the teen years.
  • Someone asked for opinions on the BP oil spill. Jon expounded on that for a good while but basically I can sum most of it up in one of his sentences: “We’re all gonna die someday.” (LOL.)
  • In the midst of the oil spill discussion, Jon drank his oil water:

  • We have had a new regular attendee lately, Jared, who is just a delight to have around and I love how he is so motivated, and already doing so many good things, at such a young age. Jared is 13 years old and is already doing things and putting things into place for his business, asking good questions and getting advice, and just really doing a lot of neat stuff and more importantly, working on doing things the right way. We are convinced he’s going to be a millionaire by the time he hits his twenties!
  • There was some kind of brouhaha Jon and Tim argued about. It’s always amusing watching them argue. And PayPal Canada apparently sucks.
  • This was actually from Thursday or Friday I think, but worth mentioning because it was so hilarious. Jon was giving advice on the phone to a buddy that he was trying to help get their router/network/whatever set up to play Call of Duty (which, once it’s late afternoon/evening at the Olson house, it’s pretty much all about Call of Duty) and Tim and Jay Hines kept arguing with Jon over what Jon was telling his buddy and Jon was yelling back at them that they may be the programming geniuses of the world, but he knows networks! I was a little hesitant about the whole thing ‘cos, y’know, if Tim Linden and Jay Hines are telling me something, I’m generally going to trust they know what they’re talking about – but Jon does actually indeed seem to know his stuff about setting up a network after all. But it was just funny as heck anyway listening to Jon give anyone advice that sounded even remotely techy. Usually when Jon announces he’s about to do something techy, everyone holds their breath.
  • GIVEAWAYS: No giveaways today, but last week Tim put up a poll asking a question which several of us got right and a bunch of us won copies of one of Jon and Tim’s favorite latest reads, Make Money Online: Roadmap of a Dot Com Mogul by John Chow – including me. That was on Thursday and I freaked out when my copy arrived in less than 24 hours on Friday. Hooray for Amazon!
  • ALSO ON THE SCENE: (I’m going to miss some here but here are the ones I know were there for sure, or in and out at least): Brenda Broyles, Paul Brown, Stephen Whittle, Jared, Diane Merriam, Marcy McManaway, Ian Bakewell maybe (but he was there for sure Friday), and Charles Smith wasn’t there yesterday but he was Friday – and we did have, of course, Jerry Iannucci, Winter Perkins, and Randy Ritter.
  • QUOTE OF THE DAY (again): “We’re all gonna die someday.” – Jon Olson

So, Lynn M. Is Baked: And no, not in a good way! At this point, I feel baked, broiled, grilled, fried, and battered. I dunno what’s up with this stupid heat wave down here. We’re used to having some uncomfortable weeks in July or August, but for June this is just unreal, and it’s been going on for so long and for so many weeks in a row now, it’s just insane. My poor AC can’t hack it and it’s about all I can talk about right now, how hot I am (and no, not that in a good way either!!!) so I’ll just shut up now.

Lynn M.’s Traffic Tidbit of the Day: Well, this is real stupid of me and all you old-timers in TE Land are probably going to laugh, but I just recently discovered another trick that is really helping me with traffic exchanges and that would be the whole CPD thing – i.e., setting up your preferred maximum hits per day per URL for your sites in traffic exchanges. Actually making USE of that has saved me a fair amount of time in logging in and maintaining my sites this week. So yeah, go ahead and laugh. This is all another one of those things probably due to what I call my “Internet ADD” where I just don’t pay attention to everything I should and overlook things. In this case I should have – at least with my most used TEs – I could have been saving myself lots of time and effort all this time before now, sigh. OK, you can stop laughing now!!!

Surf’s Up Site of the Day: WebBizInsider

Why: Just kind of pulled that one out of the hat for today but it’s been doing really well for me lately, give it a go!

Hey, Check This Out: I think one of the biggest stumbling blocks for a lot of people coming into the Internet marketing realm in general – besides the fact that they haven’t laid out a plan at all – is that they just don’t know what they want to do and promote. Certainly creating your own product to promote is the #1 best thing anyone could do, but there are lots of other alternatives out there if you’re not quite ready to create your own product yet.

Here’s an idea and it’s full of lots of good ideas – and that would be Cindy Battye’s Daily Niche Idea. Niche marketing is doing very well for a lot of folks online, and what Cindy’s created can give anyone a good head start on that road.

After signing up (for free) at Daily Niche Idea, you will be given a niche suggestion for each day of the week – so you can never let your lack of creativity limit your desire to achieve! You will also get the statistics about how many people have searched for your niche – giving you a good idea of your target audience.

Each week you will also receive a package with a fully created product that relates specifically to the niches for that week.  You can use these products to create your own blogs, websites, or anything. Cindy also shows you how to monetize your site by providing a high-converting affiliate product relating to each topic – so you can put the information all together with the website builder tools, in next to no time. It’s all about giving you the ideas, tools and tips to help you on the road to financial freedom!

For those that haven’t really hit on a plan or the perfect idea yet, Daily Niche Idea is a pretty good place to start!

OK, that’s it for today… obviously things are starting to look a little more “back to normal” around here, so keep fingers crossed with me and in any case, I’m still your TE Live gossip girl on the scene with the scoop… just a little slower lately but maybe not anymore…! ’til next time…

So, after I posted the other day about Traffic Exchange Live having moved to the Hot Conference Room… a few days later when I made my way back to TE Live again and discovered nobody was there much to my surprise, THEN I found out that they had moved it BACK to UStream (after having taken a poll about preferences which UStream apparently won. Which is fine, it seems to be working a little better for me than it was before they moved the first time so I’m good with it).

So TE Live is now back at UStream indefinitely – for the time being anyway – and, really, as long as you are typing – you should end up wherever we are, wherever that may be, LOL.

Anyway, now that that’s out of the way, here’s a little look at what we’ve been doing at TE Live this week – TE Live Exercise Hour with Jon Olson and Tim Linden!

Tim got his bike out first as a demonstration of what one could be doing productive while at TE Live. After about 4-5 minutes, he quit. Mr. Linden is much too young and thin to have been as out of breath as he was at that point.

Then Jon got his out:

I commented that it looked kinda like one of those old Big Wheels from the Seventies. Tim said Jon has a “fake bike”.

Jon sure was enjoying it, though. (And he also wasn’t nearly as out of breath after his round on the bike as Tim was after his!)

So yeah, that’s pretty much what we’ve been up to at TE Live this week, other than some discussion about what happened yesterday at Traffic Taxis, which really you can read about (and read about the followup in the comments) in Jon’s issue of Hit Exchange News yesterday here.

I’m about to get all caught up and back in the swing of things again so expect more “regular” TE Live updates shortly – and probably a switch for subscribers from my current autoresponder service for blog subscriptions to TrafficWave, I just haven’t quite figured out how I’m going to work this move out just yet – but I’ll let you know soon if you need to do anything to remain subscribed to the blog (and hope you will all stay subscribed!).

So I’ll be back soon… but in the meantime – here’s Jon’s holy… I mean, holey – socks!
