So you work online – whether full-time or part-time – and are your own boss and working for yourself, or trying to be.

Whatever your results, it’s ALL up to you and what you do.

So what do you do when you don’t feel like doing anything?

Times are tough. Everyone seems to be struggling these days, whether it’s because of the continuing crummy state of the economy in the US (no matter what the government says about “improvement”), personal issues, or whatever. I have local-ish friends who’ve been on the job hunt for nearly three years now.

Some know I’ve been having a really hard time lately and a run of worse luck than usual. The truth is I’ve been dealing with some pretty nightmarish stuff in offline personal life for several months now, stuff I really never dreamed I would be dealing with and am sort of still in a continuing state of shock that it’s even happened.

Usually I’m pretty easily able to separate my professional life from personal life, but this stuff lately has been HUGE – and a really big blow – and I’m just not functioning so great some days and as I’d like. The things that historically have always normally kept me on the road to at least functional are no longer available to me. There are a lot of days lately when I’ve found myself just practically paralyzed and barely able to do anything at all work-wise.

Times like this, I’m very grateful I’m able to work on my own schedule. No doubt I’d have probably already been fired from a “real” job and some days I feel like firing myself (lol).

I try my best to keep myself occupied and busy most of the time – the busier I am, the less time I have to think about stuff that gets me down. I have my structured daily “to-do” list that I usually follow every day, but even that’s gone out the window a lot of days lately. Many days in recent weeks it’s just really been all I can do to get the least little thing done.

One thing I do try to make a point of every day – in both good times and bad times – is spend some quality time and put my full focus into at least ONE thing that will make me money, whether it’s working on a new squeeze page, putting some effort into some area of advertising that I’ve not done before, or any number of things that are potential money makers.

Granted, most of the daily tasks on my “to-do” list are designed for income purposes as well – not all, but most, since what’s the point in working on stuff that’s not going to make you any money – or at least continuing to build my list daily.

But I do try to make a point of doing at least ONE special thing every day, even if it’s just for a half hour or so a day.

Those “one thing a day” things will really add up over time and you’ll see continuing results.

And after a while, you could organize yourself to try to do, say, TWO things like that a day. Or in my case – as I continue to try and increase and amp up my overall online efforts – I’ll probably work towards branching out to doing things like building a new niche blog every day. Or building a membership site a day (or maybe every week for that, lol). Just things like that – anything to increase one’s income and online efforts.

I’m not perfect, by any means, and as times have grown more and more difficult lately, I’ve been slacking even when I have the best of intentions and not getting things done as I’d like. I historically don’t function terribly well under a lot of stress and upset, but who does?

But still, even now, I do keep that goal in mind every day – just ONE thing that will potentially make me money – as well as trying to stay on top of the daily “to-dos”. In fact, at this point with all this other stuff going on, it’s more important to me than ever to at least try to get that one thing done every day.

If you can keep yourself on task like that – even if it’s just that one thing per day, and make an extra effort during the “I don’t wanna do anything” times to get it done – you’ll probably see results in a very short time. Then bump it up to things a day. Rinse and repeat.

So my question to you is – what do YOU do when you don’t feel like doing anything? Any tips or tricks or hints? I’m all ears and I’m sure others will be too.
