Traffic Exchange Live returned after the weekend with rants, raves, and all kinds of other bits and pieces that made the TE Live experience what it always is – fun (and often informational!). I realized much too late that I didn’t take any screenshots yesterday (boo!) so I’ll have to dig in my stash of ones I was holding for today’s post… which you probably wouldn’t know the difference if I hadn’t just said so!

Onto the TE Live news and views of the day…

Monkey Monday on Traffic Exchange Live:

  • Jon Olson was back in the saddle, joining Tim Linden and John Guanzon for Monday’s edition of Traffic Exchange Live.
  • Jon told us right off the bat he had a rant for the day, and then gave us all his own viewpoints surrounding the subject of Tim’s blog post from Monday about traffic exchanges that die.
  • In the course of that discussion, Jon also mentioned the news that Traffic Roundup had been sold.
  • Jon will continue to support people in the TE industry who are doing good things.
  • Jon was drinking coffee out of a new ThumbVu mug. I asked Jon if the coffee tasted better in the ThumbVu mug. He replied that it tastes better in I Love Hits and SWAT mugs. I said (in reference to the ThumbVu mug) that now Jon’s coffee wants to network with other coffees.
  • John wanted Jon to look at his monkey.
  • (That sounded bad, didn’t it?)
  • Jon received his December Dot Com Secrets, so they’re doing a little better than they were.
  • A UStream user who said they didn’t speak English well just wanted to congratulate Jon, Tim, and John on their good work, and did.
  • Jon had an apple and ate it.
  • We talked about the new SWAT Traffic Officers Club that Jamison Raymond has put together. Lots of cool prizes available to win in the new Officers Club, including a Flip cam, an Amazon gift certificate, a copy of Seth Godin’s Purple Cow, and lots of other cool stuff.
  • CafePress won’t ship the Flip cam to Canada, which Tim said was probably because of US laws about shipping some audio and video stuff out of the country. Jon can get mugs but no Flip cam, so Jamison will have to order the Flip.
  • Jon did a new video for Traffic-Splash:

  • Tim installed PhotoShop.
  • Someone asked about The Foot. Jon said The Foot is sick and he’d been bad – he hadn’t checked on her in a couple of hours. We hope she gets well soon!
  • Jon got a wrong number fax (as he often does) about collections for some guy. The guy owes 7 grand.
  • Jon’s Acer froze again. Surprise!
  • Jon ate fruit, yogurt, and granola and is getting all healthy.
  • Discussion in the room about the film Spaceballs. Jon said Spaceballs is the greatest comedy ever.
  • The room discussed controversial ads during the Super Bowl this past weekend.
  • John was eating some of the “Late Night” Doritos in Cheeseburger flavor. He said that Cheeseburger and the Jalapeno Poppers flavor are both good, the Taco flavor not so good.
  • Sarah Cozad said that John always makes her hungry.
  • Winter Perkins and I discussed our love for Munchos potato chips. Sarah said that Munchos are great dipped in cottage cheese.
  • Jon got up from the chair and disappeared a bit and his office had some colored strobe light kinda thing going on.
  • Jon opened his mail. He received the latest copy of Alberta Venture, and a bill for his car.
  • Jon’s SUV was the worst purchase he’s ever made.
  • Jon’s mom sent him a sweet card. On the front it said, “Son”, and then the words smart, kind, talented, original, fun, and confident. On the inside it said “loved”. We all “awwwwwww”‘d over it and thought it was great. (We like Jon’s mom, who we all met on cam recently.)
  • Jon accidentally opened a card from his grandfather that was meant for his son. Oops.
  • Brett Phillips asked Jon how his son was doing. Jon said he’d recently had a good checkup and was doing great.
  • The Foot appeared on the edge of the cam but we only saw her hand.
  • So The Foot was now The Hand.
  • And thus ended TE Live for Monday.
  • GIVEAWAYS: No giveaways on Monday.
  • I CALL YOU OUT ABOVE, YOU GET LINKAGE: Jamison Raymond, Extreme Marketing (Sarah Cozad), Seamless Web Solutions (Winter Perkins), Traffic Heroes (Brett Phillips)
  • ALSO ON THE SCENE: Paul Brown, Ian Bakewell, Stephen Whittle, Kjell Lindstrom, Wanda Robinson, Dorena Begonia, Arick Lowry, BartenderMo, John Wagner, Frank Genny, Charles Smith, Connie Motala, Walter Mulder, Brenda Broyles – and of course, Jerry Iannucci and Randy Ritter.
  • QUOTE OF THE DAY: “How sexy is this? I’m eating an apple on live stream.” - Jon Olson

*** Traffic Exchange Live is on UStream every weekday afternoon 3-4 pm EST ***

So, Lynn M. Is Thawing Out A Little: We didn’t get any more of the predicted snow here last night, and the snow and ice is melting as I type since the sun finally came out again a couple of hours ago. More snow is predicted for Saturday though! Joy.

Lynn M.’s Traffic Tidbit of the Day: If you missed it above or just glossed over it, you should check out the brand spankin’ new SWAT Traffic Officers Club that Jamison Raymond has put into place over there. If you surf the daily quota of 100 pages, you get a ticket into the prize drawing, and you can qualify three times a day (i.e., surf 300 pages and get three tickets). For every consecutive day you qualify, you get two more tickets (i.e., surf the quota for three straight days and you get six tickets that day). The current drawing ends at midnight on February 14th and there are some really great prizes up for grabs:

  • A SWAT Flip Mino digital video recorder
  • A $25 Amazon gift certificate
  • A copy of Seth Godin’s Purple Cow
  • A prize of 500 credits
  • A prize of 100 credits
  • A prize of 100 credits

Neat, huh? Even I can surf 100 pages a day most places, so what are you waiting for? Get over to SWAT Traffic and surf 100 pages and get yourself entered to win in this terrific contest!

Surf’s Up Site of the Day: Top Flight Traffic

Why: Because Randy’s a cool (and generous) guy! And is at Traffic Exchange Live every day.  :-)

Hey, Check This Out: Well, if you’re on anyone in the TE industry’s mailing list then you probably already know that Jon Atwood and Frank Salinas came out today with List Effects. This is a really supercool concept because it’s a list builder and giveaway site all wrapped up in one, basically. There’s already thousands of free gifts available inside and it’s just got all kinds of cool benefits in it. Frank always has great stuff and I think it’s awesome that he and Jon (another awesome dude) have worked together on this and put it out. Check out the brand spankin’ new List Effects today!
