Traffic Exchange Live has been a riot the last couple of days and tonight I’m kind of reporting on it as a two-fer because there weren’t that many notes today (there was a LOT of good discussion today, I just didn’t take many notes and there weren’t very many different topics, just mainly some long discussions about a few issues). I also got some excellent screenshots today, plus we had a surprise guest host as well, so I wanted to share all those tonight too.
A lot of stuff, so let’s get down to it!
Traffic Tuesday on Traffic Exchange Live:
On Tuesday’s edition of TE Live, Jon Olson was a few minutes late getting there. Tim Linden entertained himself cracking jokes about Jon being late, even though it was only like a minute or two past time.
Jon was broadcasting live from Edmonton Tuesday again.
And was dark.
Very dark.
I didn’t get a screenshot but since he had his back to the window, you couldn’t see him except in silhouette mostly.
Therefore Jon was The Shadow of TE Live.
Or The Dark Knight of TE Live, if you prefer.
After Jon shed some light on himself (heh), we learned that they poured Jon’s driveway that morning.
We also learned there was also a big pile of dirt outside Jon’s new house in Edmonton. The yard’s not coming for a few more months.
Jon was having cooked chicken with HENry, who was cooking.
Discussion of soccer and why Portugal and Spain hate each other so much.
Jon puttered around the kitchen opening this cabinet and that cabinet. There is nothing in those cabinets, they’re practically empty.
Discussion of haters hating on Sweeva. We also read and discussed a safelist mail that’s going around dissing Sweeva.
Per Winter Perkins (quoting Cat Williams): “If you have 13 haters, your goal should be to get to 15 by the end of the month.”
None of us were born with silver spoons in our mouths, especially not Jon. Charles Smith said he was born with a plastic Dixie spoon in his. I said I was born with no spoons, just forks. Eric Goettman said we were born with sporks.
Sweeva was having some technical issues and Jon & Tim argued (which is always hilarious, I’m sorry, but it is!!! They are!!!).
Soon after that Tuesday’s edition of TE Live was abruptly shut off (not because of the Sweeva issues or the arguing). Onto Wednesday…
Wacky Wednesday on Traffic Exchange Live:
Jon and Tim were in the TE Live house as usual, though Tim was mostly working on stuff again much of the hour.
Jon reported that Squidoo had shut Soren Jordansen‘s Squidoo lens about traffic exchanges down, and after checking with Soren, read us the letter on the air that Soren got from them about it. Apparently Squidoo has become anti-traffic exchange somewhat, which is disturbing. We had a long discussion about that and I actually had not been aware that Squidoo is Seth Godin’s (which to me makes the whole thing even more ridiculous, I mean, yeah, Soren’s a TE guy but he’s also one of the planet’s top online marketers).
Long, long discussion about all the negativity and problems surrounding TE Land as opposed to, you know, the rest of online marketing in general – especially how much not-great stuff is currently rotating in most TEs all over. Jon: “Let’s face it, traffic exchanges are full of crap right now.”
The possibility of TE Land being kinda like a “sinking ship” these days was another term proposed about the state of TE Land in general by Jerry Iannucci. No one really disagreed.
We also had some more discussion about the effects cash surfing is having on the TE industry as a whole.
Then we had a nice surprise guest host join us – the always pleasant and wonderful Mr. James Holmes of the Internet Business Blueprint at askjamesholmes.com:
James shared a lot of good input and insight on the discussion we were all having about the negativity in TE Land in general and some other great stuff (always great coming from James), and after we all talked about it all at length a little more, the mood changed a little bit and some of us talked about how those of us who still support what we know traffic exchanges can do probably need to work a little harder at trying to keep a more positive outlook on things TE-wise and keeping on trying to help teach people the right way to do things to get results (a la Affiliate Funnel, TE Live, etc.).
We also found out James has a daughter who’s in college. I am still suspicious that he can’t possibly be old enough to have a daughter in college looking so young himself! :-)
James’ daughter was asking him about TE Live when she was there recently, and we had some discussion about the kids of TE Live. Tim and Jon were talking about going to get coffee and we all wondered why, when they both have kids there (as Jon’s son is visiting this week), they haven’t trained any of those kids to bring them their coffee.
Tim went to get coffee with his headset on, so we could still hear him but couldn’t see him. Then we heard his coffee maker.
Then when Tim got back, Jon went to get his coffee.
James didn’t go get any coffee.
I really don’t know what Jon’s doing here:
Jon told us that the night before, when he and his son were driving back to Saskatoon from Edmonton, there was a storm so bad they were literally dodging lightning bolts on the road. The Foot had gone out with the girls, and he had already gotten home and gone to bed when she got home, but she made him get up because she said he had to look at something. Their entire neighborhood, yards, everything was flooded with around two feet of water – including the rental car that was sitting in Jon’s driveway, which Jon had not purchased full insurance coverage this time for and was now flooded. Oops.
Tim talked about how everyone in Rhode Island’s basement was flooded during the floods up there in May except his, which was dry and fine. Then after the flood waters receded, he heard running water one bright, sunny day and couldn’t figure out where it was coming from. He then discovered the faucet on the hose outside the house had broken – and water from the hose was rushing into his basement and had flooded it a bit.
Jon’s dog Dakota made an appearance. She was behind him having a fine time chewing on a bone, and we mostly just saw her butt.
Winter Perkins has a new blog, which we all checked out.
A little after 4pm, Tim and James logged off but Jon stuck around, and we were soon joined by the littlest Olson, who provided much entertainment for the next hour or so:
Now that the young Olson has gotten his hair cut like he has, they are starting to look kind of like twins almost:
“Personal branding at its best,” as Jon said – and it also would appear that HENry might have some competition in the running for the position of I Love Hits mascot:
And I had a phone call and had to split for the rest of the day, and when I returned everyone had logged off, so thus ended TE Live for the day.
ALSO ON THE SCENE (I may have missed someone on Wednesday’s list, sorry about that if so): Diane Merriam, Jared, Paul Brown, Charles Smith, Jay Hines, Pamela, Eric Goettman, Brenda Broyles, Ram Kumar, Carl Bailey, Neil A. Grippa, Ian Bakewell, Kevin Bailey, Stephen Whittle
QUOTE OF THE DAY (from Tuesday):“I need to start attacking you guys and see if I start getting better results.” – Jerry Iannucci
So, Lynn M. Is Not So Hot Today: Hey, I just mean it’s not quite as hot down here today/tonight!!! I’ll take a 91 degree high over 102.9 any day. And that’s all I’m gonna say about that…
Lynn M.’s Traffic Tidbit of the Day: Not going to name names, but when I was trying to catch up some after being mostly away from TEs for the past month or so, I found several more traffic exchanges with downline builder additions that I had no idea had been added. Let your people know, TE owners, is all I’m saying!!! And thanks SO much to the ones that DO let folks know on a regular basis!
Why: Because I’m posting this so late & their server doesn’t reset for the day until 3am EST, and Splash is having a double everything day – double bonus credits, double Surf Rewards, and double Super Surf too!
Hey, Check This Out: I mentioned above that Winter Perkins of Seamless Web Solutions has a new blog, and you should check it out! Winter said she just decided she wanted to do a little something with her own personal space – and you know she’ll have some good marketing and design tips and other info too, knowing her – so she’s put up a spiffy new blog that you should check out, read, bookmark, and link – it lives right here.
OK, that’s it for today… I have some cool news tomorrow that you won’t want to miss, so stay tuned – same TE Live gossip girl time, same TE Live gossip girl channel! Adios!
